AN URGENT warning has been issued to all Scots holidaymakers who still have a red passport.
Anyone preparing to jet off abroad with a red British passport has been urged to carry out some vital checks.
Scots planning to travel abroad need to check the expiry date on their passport.
This is because some countries require a certain amount of time left on them to be able to enter their borders.
A total of 70 countries require a passport to have at least six months of validity left on them for the holder to be able to enter.
This is commonly known as the ‘six-month validity rule’ and anyone with less than six months will need to get a new passport before going on holiday.

A further 41 countries require holidaygoers to have at least three months left on their passport before travelling.
Anyone who currently has a red passport means they got it before the UK left the EU.
Which means they are all due to expire ether this year or the next few years.
So anyone who still has one in their possession has been urged to check that they are still in date, or take action to get a new one.
