Taylor Swift, Jason Kelce in Baltimore for Ravens/Kansas City Chiefs Matchup

Taylor Swift might be a week away from the Japan dates of her Eras Tour, but her training regimen for her next set of shows went on pause albeit briefly. Instead, the notoriously self-disciplined singer broke away from rehearsals to fly to Baltimore, Maryland’s M&T Bank Stadium to watch a football game. And the stakes have never been higher for a Swift-attended matchup, as on Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs—including Swift’s boyfriend, tight end Travis Kelce—play against the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC title, which means the team’s Super Bowl dreams hang in the balance.

Also in attendance are Jason and Kylie Kelce, the former of whom was the arguable star of the Kelce/Swift suite during last week’s Chiefs game against the Buffalo Bills. Yeah, I said it! But while Swift kept her eye on the ball from a packed suite at Orchard Park’s Highmark Stadium, the elder Kelce, a center for the Philadelphia Eagles, did shots with tailgating fans from a bowling ball, disrobed, and briefly abducted a small child. Swift (to her likely relief) was barely noticeable in comparison. Will this be the game where Jason throws himself through some furniture? One can only hope.

Then again, Kelce might have some competition for camera friendliness. When Swift left her Manhattan home for the trip to Baltimore today, Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button left along with her.

I refer, of course, not to the fictional characters from Grey’s Anatomy, Law and Order: SVU, or the Brad Pitt movie, but to Swift’s famous cats, which “were seen being loaded into a black SUV outside her New York City apartment by one of her assistants,” the Daily Mail reports.

While the Mail takes that to mean “she could be planning to fly back to Kansas City with Kelce following her trip to Baltimore,” I prefer to imagine that she will be smuggling the felines into the family suite, perhaps to introduce them to Kelce’s family. I will point out here that pets are forbidden in the Bank, though service animals are always allowed. “Emotional support dogs are not permitted,” the Ravens organization sternly notes.

As we know, Swift must go through security like anyone else, smuggling in three cats seems like a task even she could not accomplish. Then again, two women got a couple of big cups of soup into the Louvre today, so anything is possible.

Cats in the box or not, as of this writing, the fate of the Chiefs—and the prospect of Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl—remains simultaneously possible and not. BetMGM and ESPN expect the Ravens to prevail today, while CBS and Bleacher Report pick the Chiefs.

Whoever ends up on top will head to Las Vegas to play in Super Bowl LVIII on February 11. The loser will either head home or—depending on which team prevails—perhaps to Tokyo, via a private jet ferrying a billionaire and her three cats.

The Kansas City Chiefs play the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC Championship on Sunday, January 28 at 3 p.m. ET. The M&T Bank Stadium game will be broadcast on CBS and streamed via Paramount+.
