After making ‘Pathaan’ dance to his tunes, Bosco Martis has now choreographed Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone in ‘Fighter‘ song ‘Sher Khul Gaye’. Calling the duo a ‘beautiful’ couple, Bosco spills the beans on working with Hrithik-Deepika and what goes into bringing alive a foot-tapping number. Excerpts:
Share your experience of shooting ‘Sher Khul Gaye’
Hrithik is so meticulous about everything from the costume, the fit and length of his pants, and what will look good on his body. Sher Khul Gaye initially had that teething problem, but he resolved it immediately the minute he got to know about it. It was an easy dance song but it’s supposed to be done by everybody, not only Hrithik Roshan. If you see the song, the entire cast is dancing.
How would you desribe Hrithik and Deepika’s jodi
They are these two heavenly bodies that have now come together and they look so beautiful together. They demand attention. I think there was one nice cool hook step where both of them did it so well that they owned it. When you take ownership of the song, you feel like it’s made for you. When two good-looking people come together, I think it’s beautiful to celebrate the glory of their dance, romance and cinema.
How would you describe Deepika Padukone as a dancer?
We haven’t done many songs with Deepika, but whatever songs we have done with her in Love Aaj Kal and Cocktail, I have seen that she’s a very hardworking actor and rehearses. People think that ‘set pe ho jaata hai’ but these actors work hard and that’s what makes them what they are. They’re committed. They make sure that they look the best. They make sure that they don’t disappoint the choreographer or whatever they’re doing, whether it is action or dance or a scene. Deepika also makes sure that she owns the move. Till the time she does not perfect it, she will not be happy.
As choreographers, do you also participate in the looks and costumes?
The designer will put up a mood with the song, and then we’ll discuss what looks nice, and we’ll discuss the colors. We also discuss what enhances footwork or hand movements. There’s a lot of hard work put in by a choreographer also. And there’s also a vision that he has to make the song look what it does. So, yeah, that’s my journey for the choreographers to be celebrated also in a certain manner.
