Samsung ‘Flex In&Out’ concept device
- Samsung displayed the futuristic foldable phone at CES 2024. It’s called the ‘Flex In&Out’, and while it looks like the Galaxy Z Flip 5, this one is different as you can fold it inside out.
- It uses an in-and-out foldable technology that lets you fold the device to 360 degrees. Samsung says that the single display has a sleek and thin design, and can be folded outwards so you can use the display even when it’s folded.
- Samsung adds that the panels for this foldable device went through rigorous tests starting with folding in extreme temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius.
- The foldable panels also had basketballs bouncing on them, and were subjected to rubbing with sand and immersion in water.
There are other futuristic products from Samsung Display at CES 2024. These include the ‘Rollable Flex’, a device whose screen can expand up to five times its original size when unrolled. Then there’s the ‘Flex Hybrid’, that offers both foldable and slidable technologies. Samsung is also showcasing a wireless earphone case that features a built-in display.
These are only concept devices for now but it shows us what the future of foldables will look like. Foldable phones are slowly reaching the mass market but still cater to a niche audience. But it won’t be surprising if we start seeing new kinds of foldable phones in the market soon.
