Sheffield United ready to hit loan market for new goalkeeper amid Kasper Schmeichel transfer speculation

SHEFFIELD UNITED boss Chris Wilder will look to the loan market for a new keeper.

The Blades would ideally bring in someone to give current No 1 Wes Foderingham a rest during a hard campaign.

We revealed yesterday that ex-Leicester City star Kasper Schmeichel has emerged as a potential target.

The 37-year-old goalie won the title and FA Cup with the Foxes and made 276 top-flight appearances for the club during his 11-year stay.

The Denish international, son of Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel, left Leicester for Nice in 2022 before moving to Belgian side Anderlecht in September.

He has gone on to become their No1 but could now be on the move once again.

Meanwhile, United could send defender Luke Thomas back to Leicester by ending his season-long loan early.

The Thomas decision may depend on the fitness of left-back Max Lowe, who picked up a groin injury in training last week.

Blades chiefs know if Thomas, 22, returns to the Foxes, it frees up space for an extra loan signing.

Wilder is also looking at temporary deals from overseas who would be interested in coming over to put themselves in the shop window.

The club had considered cashing in on striker Daniel Jebbison.

However, those plans could be scuppered as the 20-year-old is out with a hamstring injury and has not played this term.
