AMAZON has introduced a brand new feature for Fire TV devices and users might want to check it out.
As anyone with a Fire TV or Fire TV Stick will know, space can run out quite quickly with the various apps you download.
Using up space will have a knock on the speed that your device runs altogether.
And clearing them out manually is a chore.
So, Amazon has come up with a clever way to clean them up for you.
It’s called Auto Offload and will automatically clear the cache for any app that’s not been used for more than 30 days.
And when your kit has less than 800MB left, the tool will offload the apps that are not used for more than 60 days.
Things like your login information and settings preferences are kept in tact, so you don’t have to go through the hassle of entering them all again should you decide to use any offloaded apps again.
You’ll know an app has been offloaded because it’ll show a cloud icon on the app’s logo.
Auto Offload is switched on automatically – but it only works when you have an internet connection.

You can choose which apps you’d prefer to be offloaded as well.
Just go to the Fire TV settings and look for Manage Installed Applications.
Unfortunately, storage optimisation options aren’t available on all Fire TV devices.
The following are exempt:
- Amazon Fire TV (2nd Generation)
- Amazon Fire TV (1st Generation)
- Fire TV Stick (2nd Generation)
- Fire TV Stick (1st Generation)
- Fire TV Stick Basic Edition
It’s also not possible to use it on any Fire TV devices that have a kid’s profile set up on it.
