The government has listed Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Bill for consideration and passage in the Lok Sabha on Monday. They are likely to be moved by Union home minister Amit Shah.
The appropriation bill is likely to be moved in the Rajya Sabha by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act is also listed for discussion in the Upper House.
The Opposition is sticking to its demand for a statement by the home minister on the recent incident of security breach. The final course of action will be decided during the India bloc floor leaders’ meeting on Monday morning in the chamber of Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh posted on X: “All that INDIA parties are asking for and will continue to press for is a statement by the home minister on what happened on December 13 and how exactly it happened. The PM is running away from a debate for a very simple reason. Questions will be raised on the role of the Mysuru BJP MP Pratap Simha in facilitating the entry of the intruders into the Lok Sabha on December 13.”
Parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi had already made it clear that the issue came under the domain of the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who had stated the same in the House.Talking to ET, RSP MP NK Premachandran said if the government was ready to make a statement on the security breach and revoke suspension of Opposition MPs, then Opposition parties were ready to take up bills, provided they were allotted proper time for discussion.
