Govinda completed his graduation in 1980s. After this, Govinda started searching for jobs but he failed. He was not getting jobs because he was not good with English speaking. He then started auditioning for films. In 1986, he gave his first film, Ilzaam. In the same year, he did Love 86 and both films were big hits. He did many hit movies 80s.

He made a name for himself and he became the highest-paid actor and a comedy star. A report in Times Of India said that Govinda revealed that he had signed 75 films at the age of 21. He has rejected films and shows like Gadar and Mahabharat in his career. However, these rejections never affected his stardom.

He has been a part of many hit films like Raja Babu, Coolie No 1, Deewana Mastana, Dulhe Raja, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Anari No 1, Bhagam Bhag, Partner and many more.
