The pre-orders have come from existing fleet operators, and Gensol expects strong demand for both the compact EV and its last-mile delivery variant.
Gensol Engineering has received an impressive 30,000 pre-orders for its two-door, two-seater compact electric vehicles (EVs), Ezio and Ezibot, designed for micro urban mobility.
The vehicles, produced by Gensol’s subsidiary, are aimed at tackling urban commuting challenges.
According to Money Control, the company claims these EVs offer running costs as low as 50-60 paise per kilometre, making them up to 80 percent cheaper to operate than traditional petrol vehicles. The Ezio model can cover 200 km on a single charge, with a full recharge taking just 2-3 hours.
Anmol Singh Jaggi, Managing Director of Gensol, stated the vehicles “redefine urban commuting”. He added, “Our focus is on creating world-class, purpose-driven mobility solutions that tackle real-world issues like traffic congestion, rising pollution, and the demand for affordable fleet operations.”
The pre-orders, mostly from existing fleet operators, signal strong market demand for the compact EVs and last-mile delivery vehicles.
Pratik Gupta, CEO of Gensol EV, confirmed that production will soon begin at the company’s Chakan, Pune facility, with plans to launch in key urban markets like Bengaluru and Delhi. The compact design and affordability are key selling points for fleet operators.
One standout feature is the EV’s ‘reverse trike structure’, which improves manoeuvrability in tight spaces and makes parking easier. The vehicle has also undergone over 100,000 km of testing to ensure it meets the highest safety and performance standards.
