In an exclusive chat with Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister said the lies of the Opposition stood exposed
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday accused the INDIA bloc of using “foreign funding” to spread propaganda on the Constitution being amended — a move that attributed to skittling the BJP’s chances of crossing the tally of 400 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
In an exclusive chat with Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi, Adityanath said: “The INDI alliance, with the help of foreign funding, spread a lot of propaganda on the Constitution being changed, or spun a narrative about reservation being removed. They used social media platforms and digital media to promote this propaganda, but the public realised the truth of it only after the elections.”
The chief minister, however, expressed hope that the voters would see through the Opposition’s charade. “The public has once again decided to teach the Opposition a lesson. You saw what happened in Haryana and Maharashtra, where the BJP and NDA were successful in forming the government. In the UP bypoll, the BJP won seven out of nine seats, while the INDIA bloc was reduced to two. Their lies stand exposed, and the public knows what the reality is.”
Adityanath also took a dig at the Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi, saying “people also know that those roaming around with a copy of the Constitution are the same who insulted Babasaheb Ambedkar, strangled the Constitution, and kept amending it for their political interests; and will not survive for long in politics”.
Earlier, the chief minister had claimed that the original draft of the Constitution, prepared by BR Ambedkar and adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949, did not include the words “secular” and “socialist” in its Preamble and he criticised the Congress for disrespecting Ambedkar’s vision by adding these words during the Emergency to serve their selfish interests.
