‘KTR has an IT worker mindset’, jibes Revanth reddy; ex-IT Min says its better to be a techie than ‘bribing Delhi bosses for a job’

BRS working president and former IT Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday delivered a sharp rebuttal to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s remarks belittling his IT background and said that being a part of the IT industry takes “genuine talent, education, skill, and dedication.”In a recent post on X, KTR defended the IT sector and its professionals while taking a dig at the Chief Minister’s understanding of leadership and work ethics.

The tweet came after Revanth Reddy, during an interview with India Today from Davos, described KTR as someone with an “IT worker mindset” and dismissed the need for leaders to possess technical knowledge.

“To those who think they can belittle me by calling me just an IT employee, I say: being part of the IT industry takes genuine talent, education, skill, and dedication… unlike carrying bags of cash to bribe MLAs or paying Delhi bosses for a job!” KTR wrote, asserting his pride in his roots and the contributions of IT professionals globally.

The Chief Minister’s comments extended to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, suggesting that Rao, too, lacked computer experience. However, critics quickly pointed out that Narasimha Rao was known for his self-taught coding skills and played a pivotal role in ushering India into the IT revolution.”Whoever is working on computers, they are workers. We are leaders. I’m a leader. I can take a policy decision, I have much-experienced officers. If I want something, I will instruct my officers,” he said.Reddy also called out KTR as for someone having an ’employee mindset’.

KTR responded to Reddy’s remarks by ‘saluting’ the indispensable role of IT professionals in driving innovation and progress. “Your tireless efforts and brilliant minds are the backbone of the modern tech world.” He contrasted their hard work with what he described as the entitlement of “accidental politicians.”

“Let’s be honest: some accidental politicians, can’t hold a candle to your educational credentials or your work ethic. And we’re all paying the price for their half-baked policies I’m unapologetically proud of my roots, my education, my work experience, my tech background and my comrades…,” KTR concluded.
