94 probe papers opened on GISB under various laws, Dewan Rakyat told

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 94 investigation papers (IPs) under various laws were opened against Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) by the police, says the Home Ministry.

It also told the Dewan Rakyat that police have arrested 410 people in their investigation of GISB and opened 11 IPs against eight individuals connected to the group.

The investigation was conducted in four phases from Sept 2 to 30, it added.

“In the first phase, from Sept 2 to 10, police received four police reports in Negri Sembilan and Selangor on child abuse.

“Thirteen investigation papers were then opened and six arrests made along with raids on 20 Rumah Amal Limpahan Kasih (RALK) premises in Selangor (18) and Negri Sembilan (2),” it said in a parliamentary written reply dated Monday (Nov 11).

It said the second phase, from Sept 11 to 17, saw a further 24 IPs opened, 176 people arrested, and 392 alleged victims, mostly children, rescued.

Two individuals were also charged in court, it added.

The next phase, from Sept 18 to 20, saw 36 people arrested including GISB chief executive officer Datuk Nasiruddin Mohd Ali.

The fourth phase, from Sept 21 to 30, saw the arrest of a further 213 people and the opening of 56 IPs, the ministry said.

Among the Acts applied in the probe were the Child Act 2001; Care Centres Act 1984; Communications and Multimedia Act 1998; Penal Code; Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007; and Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

IPs were also opened under the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984; Immigration Act 1959/1963; and Section 13(1)(B) of the Johor Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment 1997.

“The police conducted this operation with the cooperation of the Attorney General’s Chambers, Health Ministry, Social Welfare Department and National Registration Department.

“They also worked with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), Registrar of Societies, Chemistry Department, Malaysian Islamic Development Department, and Selangor Islamic Religious Department,” the ministry said.

Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (PN-Pasir Mas) wanted to know the GISB investigation timeline and actions taken by the government following allegations of deviation and child abuse by employees of GISB.
