75th Republic Day: Google doodle showcases India’s transition from analogue to digital era | India News

NEW DELHI: Google has revealed a special doodle celebrating India’s 75th Republic Day. The doodle depicts India’s transition from the era of analogue TVs to smartphones. It showcases how the ceremonial parade would have been seen on screens across decades.
The doodle features two television sets and a mobile phone, with the distinctive ‘G’ adorning the left face of the first analogue TV, and the screens of these sets forming the ‘O’s in ‘GOOGLE.’ The remaining letters ‘G,’ ‘L,’ and ‘E’ of the Google logo are displayed sequentially on the screen of the mobile handset.
The first TV screen displays parade scenes in black and white, whereas the second screen vividly portrays a camel contingent in colour, symbolising the evolution of technology.
A note on the doodle read, “This Doodle celebrates India’s Republic Day, which commemorates the day in 1950 when the Constitution of India was adopted and the nation declared itself a sovereign, democratic, and republic state.”
“Today’s Doodle, illustrated by guest artist Vrinda Zaveri, features the Republic Day parade as it would have been seen on different screens over the decades,” the note said.
India is set to celebrate its 75th Republic Day on Friday and will be graced by French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest.
