Does anyone else feel like they blinked and now it is the end of September? Now that the temperature and humidity are starting to drop, we have entered Hong Kong’s best season. Ahead of the National Day celebrations on October 1, here are our top five recommendations for this weekend.
1. Mark Bradford: Exotica
Hauser & Wirth gallery is presenting a solo exhibition of new and innovative works by the American artist Mark Bradford. Best known for his multilayered collages and paintings, Bradford delves into the enduring impact of colonialism and concepts of “otherness”.
The artist also worked with young people in Sham Shui Po to create a mural at The Bridge+, a social enterprise.
“Exotic”, Hauser & Wirth Hong Kong, G/F, 8 Queen’s Road Central, Central, Tue-Sat, 11am-7pm. Until March 1, 2025.
“Mark Bradford’s Education Lab ‘Merchant Posters’”, The Bridge+, 82-84 Apliu Street, Sham Shui Po, Mon-Sun, 10am-6pm. Until October 20.
2. Hong Kong Dog Rescue charity market
Shop at stalls including fashion brand Momoji Pets (@momoji.hk), freeze-dried pet food specialists CAD, Hong Kong brand Zootage (@zootage.hk) and plant-based pet care brand Petal (@_ petal.co). All proceeds will go towards helping the 600 dogs under the shelter’s care.
Pets are not allowed in the shopping centre, but pet owners can stock up on goodies and join one of the workshops – the pet portrait painting session looks fun.
The One: Atrium, UG2, 100 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
