Mercedes-Benz India launches the new Long Wheelbase E-Class, combining cutting-edge technology, luxurious comfort, and safety, tailored for Indian roads.
New Delhi. Mercedes-Benz India has officially launched the new Long Wheelbase (LWB) E-Class, continuing its dominance in the luxury sedan market. As one of the most popular models in India, the E-Class has built a strong reputation, with over 57,000 units sold. It also holds the distinction of being the longest-running luxury car produced locally since 1995.
The sixth-generation LWB E-Class sets new standards with its advanced features, combining state-of-the-art technology with a focus on luxury and comfort. New features include the MBUX Superscreen, which offers a comprehensive digital experience, and the THERMOTRONIC® Digital Vent Control, providing personalized climate settings. The inclusion of AI-powered routines allows the vehicle to adapt to driver preferences, making this the most sophisticated E-Class to date.
The new model emphasizes passenger comfort, featuring luxurious elements such as the Burmester® 4D sound system, reclining seats with extended thigh support, and MBUX-controlled sun blinds, providing a premium rear seat experience.
Safety remains a top priority, with the inclusion of eight airbags, including a front center airbag, along with a reinforced passenger cell designed for enhanced occupant protection.
Customizations for Indian Conditions
Tailored specifically for Indian road conditions, the ‘Made in India, for India’ E-Class LWB features a suspension system that enhances ride quality on local roads. Additionally, locally sourced components like side and quarter glasses mark a significant step towards increased localization in production.
The model has undergone stringent testing, including global crash and emission assessments in Germany and Spain, ensuring it meets Mercedes-Benz’s global standards. It is also the first E-Class produced in India to feature a front center airbag, highlighting the brand’s commitment to safety.
Engine Options and Performance
The new E-Class LWB is available in three variants:
E200: 1999 cc engine, 204 hp, 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.
E220d: 1993 cc engine, 197 hp, 0-100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.
E450: 2999 cc engine, 381 hp, 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
Each variant also benefits from additional power and torque, ensuring a smooth and responsive driving experience.
Technological Advancements
Incorporating the latest tech, the LWB E-Class offers features such as a selfie and video camera built into the dashboard and the ability to make video calls via the onboard Vivaldi browser. The expansive MBUX Superscreen stretches across the dashboard, providing passengers with entertainment options while ensuring the driver remains focused.
Mercedes-Benz has also introduced AI-driven routines, allowing the car to learn and automate frequently used comfort settings, enhancing the overall driving experience.

In line with its sustainability goals, Mercedes-Benz has used recycled materials in parts of the new E-Class LWB. The seats, for example, feature certified recycled materials, offering the same quality as traditional materials.
