If you’re in need of a quick and easy dinner idea that doesn’t require a big grocery shop, or if your pantry is running low, Ramya Ramesh’s ten-minute chilli peanut noodles could be the answer.
This recipe went viral on TikTok a few years ago and has been hailed as a “real time saver”.
In a video reposted in July, two years after the original took the internet by storm, Ramya said: “Every year I feel obliged to share this recipe because it’s so simple and delicious.
“And the best part is that you can make it with any type of noodles, and the ingredients are probably already in your pantry.”
The dish uses packet ramen noodles and a few basic pantry items like chilli flakes, pepper, and soy sauce, reports the Mirror.
The video has been viewed an impressive 1.8 million times, garnering 103,000 likes and 186 comments.
Food enthusiasts have shared their thoughts on the speedy midweek meal.
Kassi suggested: “Hot tip – add tons of cilantro at the end and some julienned veggies (like cucumber and carrot). So yum.”
Marissa Mattix exclaimed: “Need this in my life like asap!”
Khushi added: “I just made this and I’m eating it right now! I added some crispy tofu on top it’s so good, thanks so much girl!!”
Maggie Jones chimed in with: “I can’t wait to try this.”
So, if you’re looking for a meal to get you through the week without needing a full fridge, here’s what you’ll need.
Start by boiling your ramen noodles, then drain and rinse them in cold water to prevent sticking.
In a separate bowl, combine spring onions, garlic, chilli flakes and pepper.
Heat sesame oil on a medium heat for two to three minutes.
Next, pour the hot sesame oil over the chilli flakes and spring onions, allowing it to sizzle.
Stir in a tablespoon of peanut butter, a tablespoon of soy sauce, and a splash of hot noodle water.
Mix this sauce into the noodles, ensuring they are well coated. If necessary, you can reheat them.
Finally, garnish the noodles with toasted sesame seeds and savour your meal!
