POLICE raced to Pret a Manger in Glasgow this morning after it was wrecked by a deliberate fire attack.
Emergency services were called to the scene following reports of a blaze at the popular sandwich chain in the early hours of Tuesday.
Officers and fire crews arrived at the scene in Glasgow City Centre shortly after the alarm was raised around 4.40am.
Firefighters extinguished the flames at the Sauchiehall Street branch and it was cordoned off by cops as they carried out their investigation.
Images show a large window which was smashed during the attack on the takeaway cafe.
A seating area just behind the window was also removed to allow the debris to be cleared from the premises.
It remained closed during the morning commuter rush on Tuesday as work was carried out to repair the damage.
Further images show workers boarding up the shopfront which was destroyed during the fire.
And police confirmed they are treating the fire as deliberate.
They also confirmed there were no injuries and said enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We are investigating a wilful fire-raising at a business premises in Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.
“Emergency services were called to the scene around 4.40am on Tuesday, 1 October, 2024.
“Nobody was injured and enquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0393 of Tuesday, 1 October, 2024, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Pret a Manger was approached for comment.
