The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die on Tuesday following the passage of the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address to the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament. Meanwhile, proceedings in the Rajya Sabha are set to continue today.
The Lok Sabha session, which began on June 24, included seven sittings that spanned 34 hours, achieving a productivity rate of 103 percent. The debate on the Motion of Thanks lasted for 18 hours, Speaker Om Birla said.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp counterattack on Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, mocking him as having a ‘balak buddhi‘ (childish mind). PM Modi accused the Congress leader of linking Hindus with violence, making false claims in Lok Sabha, and called for stringent action against him to safeguard parliamentary democracy.
