Before the matchup between the Pistons and Nuggets could even get to halftime on Monday night, Denver coach Michael Malone and Nikola Jokić were in the locker room. The Nuggets defeated the Pistons 107-103. Here’s what you need to know:
- Malone was ejected with 1:21 left in the first quarter. Jokić was ejected with 1:22 left in the second quarter.
- Both picked up two technicals from complaining to officials about lack of foul calls at various points in the first half.
- The Nuggets, the defending NBA champions, shoot the second fewest free-throw attempts in the NBA.
- Jokić played 15 minutes and added nine points, four rebounds and five assists before getting ejected.

After the game, Malone addressed his ejection.
“I apologized to my players at halftime,” Malone said. “You never want to leave them out there.”
After getting ejected, Malone and Jokić watched the game in the locker room.
“You make a good play, we’re pumping our fists, we’re excited, we’re hugging,” Malone said. “You don’t make a good play…I’m cursing in Serbian.”
