Disney’s most beloved characters, Moana and Maui, return for another aquatic escapade in the upcoming sequel to the phenomenal hit that stunned audiences in 2016, Moana. Recently, the makers unveiled a teaser of the new song, ‘We’re Back,’ allowing the viewers to see what Moana does in this movie as she resumes the duty of reconnecting with her ancestors.The project is packed with motivation as Moana shows her courage and perseverance as she moves her friends on another daring voyage over the seas to pursue her aim of fulfilling her ancestral call.
Written by Emmy and Grammy Award-winning composers Emily Bear and Abigail Barlow, the song shows the adventurous spirit of Moana. It focuses on a self-discovery journey. One of the verses reads, “Oh, finally, we’re back/to who we’re meant to be,” reflecting Moana’s role as a Wayfinder who, like her ancestors, must finish what she began.
In the movie, Moana and Maui embark on a great adventure across the ocean in search of uncovering secrets about Moana’s ancestors.
The song teaser also introduces Moana’s little sister, Simea, giving fans their first glimpse of the newest addition to the franchise.
