The Union Public Service Examination (UPSC) is considered one of the toughest exams in the country. Every year, lakhs of students appear for the exam with the aspiration to become bureaucrats and serve the nation. However, only a few succeed, proving that they possess the talent and dedication needed to outshine a large number of aspirants.
Meet Simi Karan, who cracked UPSC in 2019 with an impressive rank 31.
Simi Karan is originally from Odisha but grew up in Bhilai, where her father was employed at the Bhilai Steel Plant. Her mother was a teacher. Simi was a bright student and cracked the IIT entrance exam after completing her 12th standard. She graduated in electrical engineering from IIT Bombay.
She was given the opportunity to teach students in a slum, which inspired her to serve the underprivileged in society. Motivated by this, she chose to pursue the UPSC and began preparing for the exam with full commitment and dedication. In 2019, Simi cleared the UPSC examination with an All India Rank (AIR) of 31. She became an IAS officer after completing her training.
