Inside glam McDonald’s ‘McMansion’ that has stunned fans

Fast food enthusiasts have been left gobsmacked by a swanky McDonald’s housed within a breathtaking mansion.

The property, dating back to 1795, once served as a farmhouse for a descendant of one of the founders of Hempstead, New York.

Today, it stands as one of the most luxurious McDonald’s outlets globally.

This Long Island, New York mansion, which was previously used as a funeral home, has now been transformed into a restaurant. With its shuttered windows and brick chimneys, it resembles a gingerbread house straight out of a fairy tale.

When McDonald’s took over the space in the 1980s, the locals of North Hempstead were adamant about preserving the historical structure of the beautiful home. The fast-food giant agreed to restore it while setting up an eatery inside.

Now the New Hyde Park spot, affectionately known as ‘McMansion’, boasts a grand staircase, posh tables and chairs, plush booths, and a glass conservatory area.

US social media influencer and editor-in-chief of Average Socialite, Sharm Sil, known on TikTok as @sharmedlife, recently offered a glimpse inside the eatery.

She asked: “Have you been to the world’s most beautiful McDonald’s? This two-story restaurant, dubbed the ‘McMansion’, is a house inside a historical landmark in New Hyde Park, NY!”

One woman reminisced about her connection to the building, revealing: “This was my childhood home in the 1950’s when my grandparents owned a restaurant called Luigi’s.”

Another local resident expressed their familiarity with the establishment: “I live so close. It’s been there forever. I take it for granted that a lot of people don’t know about this McDonald’s.”

A third shared their affection for the unique McDonald’s: “That’s really nice McD’s. I love filet-o-fish and could see myself enjoying one here. Absolutely gorgeous!”

But it isn’t the only luxurious McDonald’s – as there is another located in Freeport, Maine, housed in a 150-year-old mansion. It boasts a discreet and minimalist design without the iconic golden arches, resembling more of an upscale hotel or museum than a burger spot.
