Yorkshire puddings are a Sunday favourite, whether you’re whipping up a roast for lunch or dinner. However, getting them to rise to their full potential can be tricky, especially if you haven’t got the formula just right.
According to one TikTok chef, there is a common mistake that often leaves people with less-than-perfect puddings.
Lauren is a foodie from Glasgow who shares her recipes, food recommendations and hacks on her TikTok page @laurenscravings. She shared a simple move to avoid during the cooking process as part of her “perfect” Yorkshire pudding recipe.
She said: “Make your own Yorkshire puddings at home. Trust me you will not regret it.”
According to Lauren, there is one thing you should not do once you’ve got your Yorkshire puddings in the oven. She warned: “Do not open the oven. That is how you ensure you get these perfect Yorkshire puddings every time.”
In the video, Lauren also talked viewers through her step-by-step easy recipe. To begin, the foodie cracked three eggs into 2000 millimetres of whole milk. She then added a sprinkle of salt and pepper to season before whisking.
Next, add in 100 grams of flour and whisk until you get what Laura describes as a “smooth batter”.
She said: “Whilst I was doing this, I had the oven pre-heated to 200C. I stuck a little bit of vegetable oil into the bottom of a muffin pan and allowed the oil to heat up to temperature for 15 minutes in the oven.”
Finally, she added: “Pour the batter into the oil in the muffin pan, stick it in the oven for 25 minutes and do not open the oven.
“That is how you ensure you get these perfect Yorkshire puddings every time.”
