Former 5FM DJ shades EFF’s Carl Niehaus: ‘What on earth?’

‘Former 5FM presenter Barney Simon has mocked the appearance of EFF MP Carl Niehaus at the first sitting of the National Assembly on Friday, 14 June.

The outspoken politician – a former ANC military veteran leader – wore a pair of red overalls that have become synonymous with the party led by Julius Malema.

EX 5FM DJ MOCKS CARL NIEHAUS

On the X app, pictures of Carl Niehaus’s party “regalia” had social media users talking.

The EFF comrade wore a set of red overalls and a hard hat, which he coupled with a pair of gumboots. The 64-year-old also wore a scarf with the colours of the colours of the Palestinian flag.

“What on earth is this?” Barney Simon tweeted alongside a pic of Niehaus

Hilariously, his followers had fun responding with their best *wrong answers only*

@FleetFeetPeet: “Fireman Sam”

@HyggeQueen1: “Father Christmas”

@33Podge: “Po*s in boots?”

@BotesZyl: “That’s the guy who voted EFF in Orania

Barney Simon wasn’t the only one amused by Carl Niehaus’s attire. DA MP Renaldo Ngamla Gouws also poked fun at his opposition.

In another tweet, Gouws called out the EFF for putting Niehaus in parliament.

He posted: “Please don’t talk about the EFF standing up for the youth or wanting radical racial/economic transformation when Carl ‘Father Dismiss’ got the nod above other ‘revolutionary young cadres.’ Single Digit Party led by a dictator”.

WHERE IS BARNEY SIMON NOW?

Barney Simon – who is a year younger than Carl Niehaus – helmed a popular rock music show on 5FM (previously Radio Five) for 24 years.

After leaving the station in 2005, Barney joined Jacaranda FM.  He also worked on their kykyNET show Lekker TV and has done radio and TV voice-over work.
