Eskom has announced this evening, Monday, 18 September 2023, that there will no loadshedding from midnight until tomorrow morning.
ESKOM DETAILS IMPROVEMENT ON GENERATION CAPACITY
In a brief statement on social media, Eskom said:
“Owing to the further improvement in available generation capacity with breakdowns significantly reduced to 12 582MW of generation capacity, Stage 3 loadshedding will be suspended at midnight tonight until 05:00 tomorrow.”
NEXT LOADSHEDDING SCHEDULE
“Thereafter, Stage 1 loadshedding will resume from 05:00 until 16:00, followed by Stage 3 loadshedding from 16:00 until 05:00 on Wednesday”.
“Eskom is closely monitoring the system performance and will communicate a further update tomorrow.”

LOAD SHEDDING CAUSING UNIMAGINABLE DAMAGE
Meanwhile, City Power recently took a stance to prohibit any form of digging in areas where there is loadshedding due to tampering and theft of the electricity infrastructure.
This was after the power utility noticed a mounting increase in theft and vandalism of the Roodepoort electrical network infrastructure, especially during high stages of load shedding. This has subsequently led to increased unplanned outages.
The power utility said theft and vandalism are becoming a vexing point on the side of both the company and customers. “We, therefore, continue to urge the community to continue being vigilant and adopt a watchdog role. This will assist City Power in curbing or minimising these infrastructural attacks.
“No City Power personnel, contractors or any other municipal person or civilians are supposed to be digging, or claiming to be working on the electrical network infrastructure in the areas where load shedding is taking place,” the entity said.
