We all know there are many ways to cook an egg – and one woman claims she’s found the “perfect way” to make them scrambled.
Taking to the Good Food blog on TikTok (user @goodfood), Anna shared a video detailing her method, beginning with the admission that the clip would probably generate some “funny looks” amongst the account’s 46,000 followers.
Cracking four yolks into a perspex bowl, she explains: “It’s done unconventionally in the microwave. I’m very fussy when it comes to scrambled egg – I hate it when it’s too softly set or custardy or too firm.”
Next, Anna added black pepper, before whisking until runny. “This microwave method will give you an extremely creamy curd,” she continues. “I’ll give you a gentle cook so you’ll get softly set eggs perfect every time.”
Removing from the microwave to give the delicacy another whisk, Anna details: “Cook in one minute intervals and stir in knobs of butter after each minute. It should only take around two or three minutes – so as soon as it starts to look softly set, give it a good stir and allow a few seconds in that residual heat.”
Anna closes her advice: “There are so many ways to cook scrambled eggs – in a bain-marie, with cream, with herbs – but I’ve found good old-fashioned butter and this easy method gets great results.”
Showcasing the finished product, Anna gently spread the scrambled eggs onto a slice of sourdough bread, before inviting others to comment on her creation. However, others confessed they weren’t so keen to try it out for themselves.
“I haven’t microwaved my scrambled eggs in years,” one TikTok user declared. “So much better from a frying pan with a knob of butter to cook it in.”
A second person slammed: “I’m not just being cynical, they seriously look absolutely terrible there’s no way it’s worth the saved effort to eat polystyrene.” And a third echoed the sentiment, penning: “Yeah not for me. They’re overdone.”
Thankfully one person was kinder in the comments section, adding: “Creamy goodness made simple.”
