Have you been making full use of the UK weather that we’ve been having lately? If you’re planning a BBQ or have already had one, then you might want to make note of these prices.
Researchers at Alternix have looked into the prices of typical BBQ ingredients at nine supermarkets to ensure you get your money’s worth.
The items the team looked at were food ingredients including four quarter-pounder beef burgers, one bottle of ketchup, four burger buns, one pack of cheese slices, eight sausages, one iceberg lettuce, six hot dog rolls, and six tomatoes.
The team then added up the total of all the items at each of the supermarkets and found Aldi to be the cheapest, costing just £2.19 per head.
Completing the top three were Tesco and Asda where you can get all the items for four people and costing under a tenner.
Meanwhile, at the other end of the scale is M&S, which costs nearly twice the amount compared to Aldi.
Surprisingly, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose both cost the same when it comes to shopping for summer BBQ essentials.
Commenting on the findings, David Phillips at Alternix said: “Hosting a BBQ can be a fantastic way to make the most of the summer weather and catch up with family and friends. To ensure you delight your guests, without breaking the bank, we’ve conducted research to crown the cheapest supermarket for BBQ essentials.”
