Lake Pajamas, the southern inspired sleep and loungewear brand, has joined forces with heritage retailer, Brooks Brothers to create a limited-edition sleep collection. The collaboration is designed with the Brooks Brothers’ well-known aesthetic in mind with Lake’s indulgence for comfort.
The 10-piece capsule includes sleepwear and robes for men and women, featuring signature design elements from both brands with a shared mission of “designing classic styles for life’s special moments.” Throughout the pieces, Brooks Brothers lends its archival toile prints and signature styles, including the oxford, to Lake’s bestselling 100 percent Pima cotton and cozy silhouettes.
“We’ve always maintained you don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort and this collaboration combines Brooks Brothers’ storied heritage with Lake’s tried-and-true Pima silhouettes,” Anne Read Lattimore, cofounder and chief executive officer of Lake Pajamas. “The discerning consumer can expect incomparable softness and comfort coupled married with polished, classic style.”
Discussions for the collaboration with Brooks Brothers, said Lattimore, started several years ago through personal connections. Noting that she has always viewed the brand as “such a classic, American brand with a storied history,” she added that the two brands “found common ground in both brands sharing a passion for timeless design and all-American style [and] it all evolved from there.”
“Although we just celebrated Lake’s 10-year anniversary, heritage has always been so important to us,” Lattimore told WWD. “And, frankly, it doesn’t get more ‘heritage’ than Brooks Brothers. Brooks Brothers has been a part of people’s lives for so many marquee moments. Now, Brooks Brothers x Lake has reimagined that same polished style for quieter, intimate moments at home — perfect timing with the holidays nearly here — through pajamas.”
Honoring that heritage, Cassandra Cannon, cofounder and chief creative officer of Lake Pajamas, said that the Lake team was “thrilled” to dive into the Brooks Brothers’ extensive archives during the inspiration phase of the collaboration. In addition to a shared “passion for quintessential, heritage American design” both brands found commonality for the use of stripes, which can be seen across the collection.
“We leaned on our classic, tried-and-true silhouettes in 100 percent Peruvian Pima, which felt like a natural canvas for archival Brooks Brothers prints,” Cannon said. “From there, it was a little bit of ‘anything goes.’ Think heirloom toiles, oxford-inspired prints and mixed stripes. Inspiration comes easy when you have more than 200 years to look back on.”
“We also developed a meaningful relationship with the Brooks Brothers crew as this collaboration came to life, and it’s been rewarding to work with many of their teams from design through marketing,” Lattimore said. “It’s been a great ride.”
Looking ahead, Lake’s cofounders told WWD, they will be continuing to think about al of the ways that Lake fits into its consumers’ lives. “We’re excited to find more ways to invite her into our world while she simultaneously makes us a part of her life at home.”
The Brooks Brothers x Lake collection is available at lakepajamas.com and brooksbrothers.com on Friday, retailing from $114 to $140.
