Actor Adhyayan Suman who played the role of Zorawar in Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar web series spoke his heart out about his co-star Sharmin Segal getting trolled for her performance. Sharmin’s performance was described as emotionless by the netizens and they even criticized her. Despite, Sharmin being the niece of Heeramandi creator Sanjay did not help her in any way.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Shekhar shared his opinion about Sharmin’s performance and said that he could understand why she chose to play her character of Alamzeb in the way she did. But Adhyayan was more straightforward as he advised her to not live in a bubble and also told her to accept any sort of reality, not just Heeramandi, per se. He further added that it is important to understand who you are, it’s very important to understand whether you have it in you to fight the next 15-20 years. He told her to not lie to yourself.

Adhyayan said that he took stock of the situation that he worked on himself during a period of disappointment and then re-jumped as an actor after having been written off by the industry. he said that if she is being criticized for her performance, she should come out and speak to people. He said that the audience are very gentle and will give her another chance if they feel she has worked hard.
Shekhar said that he found the trolling to be unfair and explained why he supports Sharmin. Though the actor did not said that she did well in the show, he said that if one thinks there is some credibility to the criticism, do some quick thinking about why they’re saying that. He said that if she feels she has a point, then correct yourself and prove them all wrong otherwise ignore them.
Shekhar even said that a veteran perfectionist like Bhansali would not have cast Sharmin in the role if he was not confident about her skills. He even said that if Bhansali ever felt dissatisfied by her performance he would have made sure that she delivers what he wanted. Shekhar surmised that it must be on purpose as they wanted to show Alamzeb in a certain way.

Recently, Sharmin also broke silence about the trolling and told News18 that she gave it all to Alamzeb’s character and even said that people often tend to fixate on the negatives but there are so many positives that have also come along which they do not talk about. Bhansali also defended casting Sharmin for the role of Alamzeb in an interview with India Today. Heeramandi stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Richa Chadha, Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, Farida Jalal, and Indresh Malik in crucial roles.
