Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sipho Mbule joined Sekhukhune United on loan for the season. Here’s an update from his new captain Linda Mntambo.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS SEND SIPHO MBULE ON LOAN
After 51 appearances in two years since his move from SuperSport United, the 26-year-old from Bethlehem, Free State, left Kabo Yellow for Babina Noko.
DEBUT AGAINST GOLDEN ARROWS
After starting the game until the 60th minute as Sekhukhune beat Arrows, 2-0, Mntambo shared his thoughts on having Mbule on board.
“He just amazes me every time in training and just how he controls the ball and his vision and how he plays. Somehow, I just feel like sometimes he’s just unfortunate but you can see with a lot of game time under his belt, he’s going to show the people why he’s called the Masterchef,” Mntambo said via SABC.
“I don’t think he [would have] signed for Sundowns if he wasn’t good enough and now that he has come to us, I think he also understands that he’s coming into a new team, it’s not about him but it’s about the club.
“So, he needs to put the club first before himself and then, I think it will build well for us. As a club, I think we are excited,” Mntambo added on the Sundowns midfielder.
WHAT COACH MANQOBA MNGQITHI’S SAID WHEN MBULE LEFT SUNDOWNS
“Sipho Mbule’s departure, I think, is good for the boy because I like him a lot and I believe he’s got so much he can give us, so it will be very good for him to taste another environment, and he still has a chance to come back and help us,” the Sundowns mentor said via SABC Sport.
“We were struggling with a lot of things, in terms of his physical condition, because when you are not playing regularly, you are always bound to either gain weight and have this and that issue.
“And then [when] you are given a chance, you get injured because maybe you are not getting as many games as you would have loved.
“But I still see him coming bak to Sundowns and claiming a place in this team. I think it will help him if he manages to play regularly for Sekhukhune, and I think we will benefit as a club.
“And he will also benefit because I believe he can help us towards the end [of the season] – maybe he will even go further in his career because he’s a very good football player,” the Sundowns mentor concluded.
