Siblings Ashmit Patel and Ameesha Patel have often made headlines for their tumultuous relationship. In a new interview with Siddharth Kannan, Ashmit opened up about his equation with Ameesha, revealing that they don’t share a close relationship. However, he maintained that he will always be there for his sister in times of need.
When asked if Ameesha was influenced by the men in her life, Ashmit responded, “Definitely, I think so.But see, everyone’s a mature adult. Everyone has a brain of their own. Everyone has their own free will to think and perceive whatever one hears or gets influenced by. And so I don’t blame anyone. Yes, I do hold a few grudges against certain people, especially for the way they treated me. I was close to some of them, and rather than pushing her in a certain direction, they could have spoken to me about what was going on in her head.”
Ashmit also shared his experience of being dropped from a big film and how he dealt with it. “We were not really talking about that. My parents were in a terrible mental state, and putting more pressure on them would not have helped. I had to support them and deal with all these things on my own. I didn’t confide in anyone, so I faced it alone,” he shared, adding that he has not met Vikram Bhatt, with whom he worked as an assistant director, for the past 20-25 years. For the uninitiated, the filmmaker publicly dated Ameesha for five years and they separated during the release of his film 1920 in 2008.

When asked about his current relationship with Ameesha, Ashmit stated, “Ameesha is my sister. We love each other. Occasionally, we are in communication, but we don’t share a very close relationship. But, I love her. She is my blood. And I’m always there for her. I think she knows that as well.”
Earlier, Ashmit had congratulated Ameesha on the success of Gadar 2 and mentioned that he has always preferred keeping his personal life private.
